About Inclusive Aotearoa Collective Tāhono

Inclusive Aotearoa Collective Tāhono (IACT) is a national initiative which was founded in April 2019.

IACT’s vision is of a collaboration of people across the country committed to building a socially inclusive Aotearoa New Zealand.

IACT’s mission is to build a social movement that creates lasting change by enabling each person and community to claim their place in Aotearoa New Zealand, while recognising the right of others to do so too.

The initiative is funded to work towards the following outcomes:

  • to develop a Strategy for Belonging and Inclusion for Aotearoa, and

  • to establish Constellations (supported networks of collaboration across communities and sectors) that will deliver social change.

The setting up of the Constellations is due to begin in early 2021.

About this role

The primary purpose of this role is to work on the Constellations – to establish, support and facilitate the development and growth of networks of collaboration around key focus areas of social transformation.

As a member of a team of facilitators working across sectors, disciplines and differences, you’ll work together to effectively build connections, relationships and collaboration between individuals and groups who are gathering around common goals. You’ll work collaboratively with your colleagues, stakeholders and participants to design, shape and develop the structure of the networks. You’ll use your strong listening and synthesis skills to support the unique properties of each Constellation to flourish, and to nurture the relationships and connections of the group members to ensure they are able to work towards shared goals. Your comfort with and practical experience of complexity and of navigating difficult interactions and conflicts will give you the tools to support the networks to do productive, constructive work.

IACT is committed to being a Te Tiriti based organisation, and you’ll work hard to ensure that the structure, protocols and practices of the project stay in alignment with this. You’ll be focused on making sure all members of the constellations are able to engage equitably; with clear expectations and intentions; and with authentic access to shared opportunities and possibilities.

The kind of work you’ll be doing

Your work, responsibilities and contributions will be determined in response to the evolving needs of the project and the constellations that you are supporting. You’ll need to be committed to getting involved and taking on the work that needs doing to ensure the success of the project.

Some of this work could include:

  • Facilitating connections, relationships and hui – both virtually/at distance and in person

  • Collaboratively building and reviewing agreements – such as terms of reference, working expectations, resource sharing and contribution, and membership expectations and boundaries

  • Responsively synthesising and applying practices and models to support the emergent needs of the constellations and their members – from visioning and ideation through to problem solving and capacity analysis

  • Supporting the administration and management of the Constellations – from collecting and managing knowledge and data, to organising and facilitating events, to documenting and tracking outcomes and agreement
